Tanya Rucosky | Community Resilience Partnership Coordinator, Sunrise County Economic Council

Tanya Rucosky

Community Resilience Partnership Coordinator,
Sunrise County Economic Council

Tanya Rucosky is based in rural and coastal Washington County, Maine—a place the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined with the population of Poughkeepsie, New York. Born in the mountains, east of Pittsburgh, Tanya has deep rural roots, but has lived and worked in Bangkok, Thailand, Taipei, Taiwan, and Canberra, Australia. Tanya holds degrees in English Literature, Education, Natural Resource Management, and a Master’s in Information Science.

Over her 30-year career, Tanya has been an archivist, editor, organic farmer, teacher, foreign aid worker, UN representative, park ranger, and land trust director. Tanya currently helps rural Maine communities to access technical support, training, and funding to meet their self-identified resilience needs. From developing municipal solar ordinances to funding seawalls, installing EV chargers at the local library to consulting with wind developers, helping Indigenous communities manage culturally significant coastal sites to building bridges for more intense storms and endangered fish migrations, Tanya brings her broad subject knowledge and strong organizational skills to Maine’s tiny, coastal communities as they respond to climate change.
