Michael Polsky is a Ukrainian-born serial entrepreneur and energy industry expert. An engineer and energy pioneer for over four decades, Polsky is the founder and CEO of Invenergy, the world’s largest privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions. Prior to Invenergy, he founded two other successful energy companies.
Driven by Polsky’s vision, Invenergy has led the clean energy revolution, expanding from thermal generation to wind and solar, and is now paving the way for next generation technologies including energy storage, offshore wind, transmission, hydrogen, and clean water. Founded in 2001, Invenergy currently has over 2,500 employees, and has built over 31-gigawatts of clean energy projects across 30 U.S. states and four continents.
Polsky’s philanthropic efforts reflect his passion for entrepreneurship and energy innovation. He endowed the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago in 2002 and serves as a University Trustee and Chairman of the Polsky Center Council. In 2010, he co-founded the Clean Energy Trust, now Evergreen Climate Innovations, a non-profit that supports startups bringing impactful climate technologies to market. Polsky also serves on the boards of the World Resources Institute and the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
Most recently, Polsky’s philanthropic efforts have been focused on his native Ukraine to ensure the well-being of Ukraine’s people, the nation’s victory, and ultimate reconstruction. In recognition of his philanthropic work and professional accomplishments, Polsky was presented with the RFK Human Rights award in 2022. Polsky holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Kiev Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
