As the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Kate McAteer is the chief academic officer at WSU Tri-Cities, the most diverse campus in the WSU system. She has served at the principal investigator for several student support services grants that provide assistance to low-income individuals, first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities. Kate has a BSc in Biological Chemistry from Ulster University in Northern Ireland and earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina. Kate completed two postdoctoral fellowships, one at the University of Washington and one at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory before joining the faculty at WSU in 2002. She currently serves as the community benefits lead for the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub.
