Fausto Hernández Quiñones started working at the Financial Oversight & Management Board for Puerto Rico (“The Oversight Board”) in September 2020 and currently serves as a Senior Manager in their Infrastructure Department. The Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act of 2016 established the Oversight Board to provide a method for a covered territory to achieve fiscal responsibility and access to the capital markets.
Before joining the Oversight Board, Mr. Hernández worked as consultant, in that moment, at one of the biggest Accounting Firms in Puerto Rico, BDO Puerto Rico/USVI. Following BDO Puerto Rico/USVI, he worked as State & Local Tax consultant at The MFA Companies in Massachusetts and later at CohnReznick LLP in Connecticut.
At FOMB, he has been responsible for the overall development and management of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (“PREPA”) Fiscal Plans, including the implementation of initiatives, transition to renewable energy, as mandated by Act-17 and overseeing the preparation of budgets.
Mr. Hernández was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He received his BBA from the University of Puerto Rico. He received a Certificate in International Taxation and Environmental Law from the University of Oxford and holds a Juris Doctorate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
