Eli Bashevkin is an engineering and strategy leader with more than a decade of experience bringing advanced technology to market. In his current role as Acting Director of Portfolio Risk Management and Commercialization Manager in the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations’ (OCED) Portfolio Strategy Division, Eli works at the intersection of OCED’s portfolio of demonstration projects and broader market strategy to assess and inform the path for scaling emerging energy technologies. Prior to joining the DOE in May of 2023, Eli worked in the energy storage industry at Fluence Energy, where he led next-generation product development and matured design processes as Deputy Chief Engineer, and held leadership roles developing advanced nuclear reactors at X-energy. Eli began his career at SpaceX developing the Falcon 9 Second Stage from initial design to achieving certification for human launch and a regular launch cadence, as product manager and engineering manager of the stage.
