Amy Peterson focuses on community jobs and justice as the Senior Advisor, Industry Relations, at the U.S. Department of Energy, Loan Programs Office (LPO). LPO works with borrowers to support project certainty through the development of strategies to attract and retain skilled workers and deliver shared prosperity in the communities where investments are happening.

Most recently, Amy Peterson led the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development and the Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations for the City of New York. At the Mayor’s Office, Amy Peterson negotiated Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) with the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, including a PLA to rebuild residential housing after Hurricane Sandy that prioritized hiring from Sandy-impacted communities and ensured contractor and worker availability. From 2007 to 2014, Peterson was President of Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW), an apprenticeship readiness program in New York City which prepares, trains and places women in careers in the skilled construction, utility and maintenance trades, helping women achieve economic independence and a secure future. Amy Peterson began her career as an Engineer in the private sector building semiconductor facilities.
